50% of employees blocked from accessing Facebook at work, Sophos survey reveals

This is coming as a shock considering the increasing number of companies using the new advertising feature on Facebook. LloydsTSB, Credit Suisse, and Goldman Sachs are among the companies reported to have blocked employees from visiting Facebook for fear that it would be too distracting and productivity would be lost. Well, what about MySpace? Do these companies plan on blocking access to MySpace.

More businesses are restricting access to these kinds of sites. Employees may not like it, but these websites can represent a security risk if used carelessly.

I personally can understand companies blocking access to MySpace because of the lewd and potentially distracting nature that exists on that site. I personally have not seen Facebook get to the level of MySpace since it is all in the type of audience that it attracts. Facebook has been initially designed to allow college students to network with one another.  MySpace is more geared towards uneducated twenty-somethings who only want to exhibit their party lifestyle.
